All proceeds (after race expenses) will benefit parish supported food pantries including New Trier Township Food Pantry and St. Thomas of Canterbury.

New Trier Township Food Pantry

Established in 1965, the New Trier Township Food Pantry serves as a bridge between those who have the ability to give and those who are in need. Through donations from the community and volunteer efforts the shelves are stocked with a variety of:

Canned and Packaged Food
Frozen Foods
Laundry Detergent
Toiletry Items
Useful Paper Goods

The township Food Pantry  serves the needs of over 100 households per month, representing about 250 persons. The supplemental groceries and personal care items our clients receive are making a tremendous difference in their lives, while strengthening the communities we serve.

St. Thomas of Canterbury

For nearly 40 years, we have “twinned” with St. Thomas of Canterbury, a richly diverse parish in Chicago’s Uptown area that serves families from Vietnam, Eritrea, other parts of sub-Saharan Africa, Mexico, and Europe. In line with the parish’s character, St. Thomas School primarily serves immigrant or second-generation students and operates at full capacity. Over 95% of these students’ families have incomes below the poverty line. Graduates of St. Thomas attend leading public and Catholic high schools and go on to major colleges and universities.

Our relationship with St. Thomas offers Saints JFX parishioners incredible opportunities to live their discipleship. As many as 45 parishioners go to St. Thomas School every week to tutor students in math, history, and English. Saints JFX parishioners enable the school’s refugee support program through financial contributions. Our donations of food and food supplies enable St. Thomas to operate a food pantry and soup kitchen.  Due to the pandemic, we are not allowed to collect clothing so we suggest depositing these donation in the St. Vincent de Paul Drop Off Box behind St. Francis Xavier Church or in the parking lot behind St. Joseph Church.  Each week the food pantry serves over 100 families.

As generous as our parishioners have been, our connection is not just about giving. It’s about witnessing what we believe: that we are one body of Christ and one church, no matter what the zip code.
